Audi R8 TDI

Audi R8 has tops the list as it is diesel powered revolutionized racing car. It consumes minimal fuel and has a massive torque. It has been able to dominate the races it has participated in and has given competition to its rival Peugeot. Audi has always modified its cars and refined it to win more and more races. Lately it came up with another diesel powered R15 which won the race at Sebring.

R8 came up with a revolutionary 6.0 liter V12 TDI prototype; the engine produces 500 horsepower and 738 pound foot of torque. It also features Quattro all-wheel drive system which allows it to speed up to 62 miles per hour in just 4.2 seconds. There have been rumors about Audi producing a version for launch that would contain twin –turbo V8 TDI.

BMW 335d

BMW has offered diesel power plants in Europe and now it has produced one for the U.S. which is 335d sedan. BMW 335d looks just like the other 3 series, which has kept its standards high with its status and legendary performance. Its major powerhouse is the 3.0 liter turbocharge with 265 horsepower and a torque of 425 pound foot.

It is believed that 335d would take 6.2 seconds to cover 23 miles per hour on highway. It uses a full BlueTEC system which is also known as the Advanced Diesel with Blue Performance. It has a maintenance program of 4 year of 50,000 mile but it needs to be filled with urea solution at regular intervals.

Audi A3 TDI

Audi A3 TDI contains the 2.0 liter turbo-diesel engine which is also found in Jetta TDI, sp the horsepower, torque and the DSG dual-clutch transmission. It is build with VAG’s partial BlueTEC system which is more user-friendly because it doesn’t require after treatment. It doesn’t require much maintenance but the urea injection needs to be put in every three months. This diesel version of A3 is launched in North America.

VW Jetta TDI

VW used BlueTEC technology and developed along with the Mercedes-Benz to create a 50 state legal turbo-diesel Jetta. It is powered by 2.0 liter and 4 cylinder engine that produces 140 horsepower and 236 pond foot of torque. It is believed to be the first car to meet the world’s toughest emissions standards. It claims to cover 33 miles per hour in 8 seconds. The Jetta TDI has been very popular and because of its moderate pricing it sold out many units.

Mercedes-Benz ML 320 BlueTEC

The European manufacturers are trying hard to create a diesel car for the Americans that they could easily purchase. Mercedes came up with ML 320 which uses BlueTEC technology. This technology comes along with the urea injection exhaust cleaning system that produces cleanest fumes. ML 320 BlueTEC contains 3.0 liter turbocharged diesel engine that produces 210 horsepower and 398 pound foot of torque. Its V8 engine allows the speed of 18 miles per hour in the city and 24 mile per hour on the highway.

Citroen C5 HDi

The French manufacturers are trying to build cars that would be conventional but this car is doesnot have the regular appeal. C5 has a modern style along with the silhouette of the classic DS. This is the creation that was produced because of the alliance of Ford and Peugeot. It contains 2.7 liter V6 engine and gives the speed of 33.6 miles per hour in 8.4 seconds.

Alfa Romeo Brera 2.4 JTDM 2.0

Alfa Romeo is a beautiful car, and has a 2.4 liter 5 cylinder engine. The engine produces 210 horsepower and 294 pound foot of torque. The speed that the car can deliver is 41.5 miles per hour in 7.9 seconds. The car is little slower in comparison to others but it’s good to drive in.

Lexus IS 220d

This Japanese built diesel sports car is created with Diesel IS which is a direct injected turbocharged with 2.2 liter engine that produces 175 horsepower and 295 pounf foot of torque. So it’s supposed to cover 62 miles per hour in 8.9 seconds. The top speed of the Lexus is reported to be 134 miles per hour.

Renault Laguna Coupe 3.0 Diesel

This French car manufacturing company is not so eager to return back to the American market because of two reasons; one that very few people know it and second is that the people who know about it relate it to the bad Le Car. But Laguna Coupe is a pretty car and contains 3.0 liter turbo diesel V6 engine that pumps out 235 horsepower and 332 pound foot of torque. And the expected speed is 40 mile per gallon.

Jaguar XJ Diesel

Jaguar XJ has been featured in one of the episode of Top Gear. It is a car that can make a trip of 736 mile on one tank of fuel. Its 2.7 liter V6 engine produces 204 horsepower and 321 pound foot of torque. It was regarded as the Britain’s Greenest luxury car. The expected speed is 141 miles per hour in 7.8 seconds. It consists of soft grain leather seats and Takoba wheels etc.
